What is DPF off? A plain guide for off-road testing
The diesel particulate filter (DPF) is an exhaust component that traps soot from a diesel engine. To keep it clear, the ECU runs a periodic regeneration cycle that raises exhaust temperature and burns the trapped soot off. The whole process is managed in software by the engine control unit: sensors report back-pressure and temperature, and the ECU decides when to regenerate.
“DPF off” refers to turning off the software side of that strategy in the ECU map, so the control unit no longer commands or monitors filter regeneration. In DaVinci Ghost this is a single switch applied to a bench file: you open the ECU dump, the analysis identifies the unit and confirms whether the DPF solution is available for that exact software, and you apply it.
How it is done on the bench
DaVinci Ghost is desktop file software, not an OBD flasher. You work on a dump read from the ECU, apply the switches you need, and the app writes the file back with a corrected checksum and CVN so it is valid. One token covers the whole file, including any other available switch such as EGR or AdBlue.
