Diesel delete explained: DPF, EGR and DEF (AdBlue) off
The words change from country to country, which makes searching confusing. Here is the plain map of “diesel delete” terms and where DaVinci Ghost fits.
The terms, decoded
- DEF delete — the US name. DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is the same thing Europe calls AdBlue, and deleting it means turning off the SCR / AdBlue strategy.
- DPF delete — the diesel particulate filter. Also written FAP in French and Italian markets. See DPF off.
- EGR delete — exhaust gas recirculation, sometimes AGR in German. See EGR off.
- Delete kit — in the US this often means hardware plus a tuner. DaVinci Ghost is the software side: it edits the ECU file so the unit does not fault, log codes or drop into limp mode over deleted systems.
Software, not a box
DaVinci Ghost edits a bench file and corrects the checksum and CVN — there is no external emulator (see AdBlue delete vs emulator). Open the file, the analysis identifies the ECU and shows which of DPF, EGR, DEF/AdBlue, NOx and the rest apply.
Trucks and big diesels
